Ephesians: The Spiritual Armor
Scripture: Ephesians 6:10-20 (NRSV)
There are four great struggles found in literature: First, Man vs. Man. This is the good guy vs. the bad guy story line. Think Dora the Explorer vs. Sniper. Second, there’s Man vs. Self. A great example of this is Shakespeare’s Hamlet. “To be or not to be …” Third, there’s Man vs. Society—think Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 or The Handmaid’s Tale. Fourth, there’s Man vs. Nature—most convincingly demonstrated in Sharknado. There are also other struggles like Man vs. Technology, Man vs. Fate, or Man vs. God. But our sermon addresses a cosmic struggle in the drama of salvation: Man vs. Evil. Come, listen, and don God’s spiritual armor to be equipped against evil without and evil within.
