IMMANUEL’S YOUTH GROUP

Youth in Grades 6-12 are invited to join us at the Immanuel campus on Sunday evenings where we play, worship, serve, and do life together! We aim to walk in Jesus’ footsteps, which means we welcome you no matter where you’re coming from or what you believe.

DINNER — Every Youth Group meeting begins with dinner in Witherspoon Hall at 5:00 pm, so come hungry! Volunteers, parents, or sponsors sign up to bring dinner for everyone. Volunteers provide dinner and dessert for approx. 20 kids and 2 adult leaders and are welcome to join us for dinner and to meet the kids!

Contact Kris Goorsky or Sarah Tittle if you would like to sign up to provide dinner for any of our Sunday evening Youth Group meetings. Food sensitivities are always respected.

ACTIVITIES — In addition to attending Sunday night Youth Group meetings, our youth are encouraged to participate in any or all of the activities of the church including: Youth led Worship Services, Confirmation, Vacation Bible School volunteers, Mission projects, Montlure Summer Camp, and any other projects they develop for service to the church and community.

ABOUT Financial Peace for Teens

Financial Peace for Teens is a nine-lesson money management class taught by America’s leading financial experts: Dave Ramsey, Rachel Cruze, and Chris Hogan. The class is designed to help teens learn solid financial principles that will prepare them to handle their money wisely, save for the future, and avoid debt, and give generously. Financial Peace for Teens is based on solid Christian principles.

WHAT WILL TEENS LEARN?

  • Jan 19: The Basics of Money
    • This lesson will introduce you to the topic of personal finance and give you an overview of the history of credit.
  • Jan 26: Don’t Be Normal
    • In this lesson, you will learn that you can change your money behavior by understanding your money personality and the language of money.

February 2nd break

  • Feb 9: Save That Cash
    • Discover the Five Foundations that start with the importance of having money set aside for the emergencies that will happen in life.
  • Feb 16: Watching Money Grow
    • Learn about the mathematical explosion of compound interest that can help you become a millionaire—when it has time to work.
  • Feb 23: Take Control of Your Money
    • Personal finance is all about you taking control of your money and telling it where to go and what to do—instead of wondering where it went.
  • Mar 1: Working Toward Zero
    • In this lesson, you will learn that a budget is the most powerful tool you have to manage your income and expenses while avoiding debt.
  • Mar 8: The Truth About Debt
    • It’s time to uncover the myths related to debt while discovering the truths that will keep you from becoming a slave to payments.

March 15th – Spring Break! — No Youth Group

  • Mar 22: There’s a Better Way — POSTPONED!
    • Dave explains that the “normal” way to buy a car and a house will only keep you in debt but there is a better way to do both.
  • March 29: The Power of Generosity — POSTPONED!
    • Dave and Rachel talk about the importance of generosity as well as the difference between being an owner and a manager of resources.
