From Neglect to Nurture

Scripture: Proverbs 27:18, 23-27 (NRSV), James 1:21 (MSG)

The stewardshift from neglect to nurture is about giving to God 110% of your body, mind, soul, and strength. Caring for the earth, for your faith, your family, your work, for others, for yourself, in Christ’s strength and love. In our perfectly imperfect attempts, we’re summoned to live life with reverence, compassion, integrity, and joy. In other words, literal and figurative upkeep is a spiritual discipline. We’re wise, generous, frugal, and thoughtful with our resources. We don’t run ourselves ragged to get rich, but we take care of our business. We enjoy a job well done. We work well with others. We trust in God and plan for the future—setting aside the resources entrusted to us for saving, giving, and living. This stewardshift from neglect to nurture impacts our whole lives, how we run our households, how we exercise authority, and how we live out our faith and our day to day lives.

Throughout our “Stewardshift” series, we have had different members of Immanuel share their story of how God is working in their life and what Immanuel means to them. This week Elder Joey Samoy shared his faith story with the church.
