Haggai: Work, for I Am with You
Scripture: Haggai 2:1-9 (NRSV)
Winston Churchill once said, “We shape our buildings, thereafter our buildings shape us.” Israel had their work cut out for them–they needed to rebuild the destroyed temple upon their return from exile. But their building plans got delayed … for eighteen years! Thankfully the prophet Haggai came on the scene to encourage God’s people to take care of business and work..because God was with them. And Haggai helps us to refocus, keep first things first, and not grow weary in well-doing or finishing our tasks.
